NSS BERTH 3 DESIGN & CONSTRUCT CONTAINER HARDSTAND

NSS BERTH 3 DESIGN & CONSTRUCT CONTAINER HARDSTAND

Client:

National Stevedoring Services

Project Overview:

In combination with a local civil contractor, FortisEM assisted in the design and construction project at the Port of Townsville for Northern Stevedoring Services.

The project involved the engineering design and documentation of 3600m2 container storage hardstand area to expand the current facility at Berth 3.   Specifically, the work included bulk earthworks, electrical service conduits, cement treated pavement, PMB asphalt and 25m light pole relocation.  The pavement was designed to with stand significant design loads from the Kalmar loaders used onsite.  The works were later expanded to include profiling and replacement of 2000m2 of irregular wearing course within the NSS operating area that required a 48hr turn around between vessels to minimise disturbance to port activities.

Project Achievements:

FortisEM worked closely with the contractor to develop and cost effective design solution cable of meeting the requirements of the high design loads from the Kalmar loaders.
